The word "Tao" (道) has a variety of meanings in both ancient and modern Chinese from its purely prosaic use to mean road, channel, path, principle, or similar, the word has acquired a variety of differing and often confusing metaphorical, philosophical and religious uses. In most belief systems, the word is used symbolically in its sense of 'way' as the 'right' or 'proper' way.

General Notes: This book was sweet because as a newcomer to eastern thought it had both the Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu. (Chuang Tzu stuff is harder to find in libraries, sometimes.) I didn't realize how important Chuang Tzu was until I used this book to check him out. This Thomas Cleary translation seems weak for the Tao Te Ching, but good for /5(29). Thank you for your book The Tao of Sexology. I think it is a unique, benign and valuable publication for this day and age, since it stresses the spiritual aspect of sexuality. Robert S.: I have read the book The Tao of Sexology by Dr. Stephen T. Chang. It was well written with moral values in mind. Malinda R.

After many hardscrabble years as a poorly paid songwriter (often watching his work become a gold mine for other performers), Willie finally found his own voice—the gentle but. The Zhuangzi (Mandarin: [ɹ̩̀]; historically romanized Chuang Tzŭ) is an ancient Chinese text from the late Warring States period (– BC) which contains stories and anecdotes that exemplify the carefree nature of the ideal Taoist sage. Named for its traditional author, "Master Zhuang" (), the Zhuangzi is one of the two foundational texts of Taoism, along with the Tao Te.

Awakening To The Tao and The Secret Of The Golden Flower were, for me, the books that initiated an engagement with Taoist practice. I loved the poetry, the mystery, and the simple deep wisdom flowing from their pages.
